We are so excited to resume our children’s event — the first since the start of the pandemic. Over 80 children joined us at the Nottingham Ballroom for an afternoon of crafts, games, entertainment, food, haircuts and keepsake photo. Each child went home with winter clothing, a blanket donated from Project Linus, pajamas donated from Lala and Mimi’s Pajama Project, Hoodies from Snipes and an item from their wish list (often a toy or more clothing).
Shine and Inspire hosts two children’s parties per year, with a winter and summer event. Started about six years ago, we found a surplus from our fundraising (we are thankful for our generous donors) and wanted to use to help families within our community. We connected with several agencies that support children in need and so began our first children’s party! Our winter event provides children with winter clothing (coat, hat, gloves, boots and clothing), and our summer event provides children with a backpack filled with school supplies, new sneakers, outfit and of course pajamas! Even when we couldn’t get together in person because of the pandemic, we were still able to provide items.
